Book Synopsis

"Find Me Unafraid" tells the inspiring true story of Kennedy Odede and Jessica Posner, two individuals from radically different backgrounds who come together to fight poverty and create change in the slums of Africa.

Kennedy, born and raised in the slums of Kibera, Kenya, faced unimaginable hardships, including violence and limited opportunities for education. Determined to create a better future, he founded the grassroots organization Shining Hope for Communities (SHOFCO) to empower fellow slum-dwellers.

Jessica, an American university student, embarked on a journey to Africa with the intention of making a difference. She fell in love with Kenya and found herself drawn to Kibera, where she met Kennedy. Together, they envisioned a future where compassion, education, and opportunity could transform lives.

Their partnership led to the founding of The Kibera School for Girls, the first free school for girls in Kibera, providing education and hope to hundreds of girls who had previously been left behind. Kennedy and Jessica also worked to address other areas of need, such as healthcare, clean water, and economic opportunities, all while navigating cultural differences and facing backlash from traditionalists.

"Find Me Unafraid" is a powerful testament to the strength of the human spirit and the potential for change. It offers a unique insight into the challenges faced by those living in extreme poverty and the innovative solutions that can be achieved through collaboration and determination. This compelling memoir shows that, even in the face of adversity, it is possible to create a brighter future and make a lasting impact in the world.
